‘Ebert Presents At The Movies’ Will End Without Help From Viewers Like You

7 Nov

This is sad news for anyone movie fan. The iconic ‘At The Movies’ franchise, which has been on the air since the 70’s, will end after its current season unless it receives financially backing. From Ebert’s blog:

[U]nless we find an angel, our television program will go off the air at the end of its current season. … We can’t afford to finance it any longer.

Its latest incarnation on PBS has been financed by Ebert and his wife Chaz all by themselves. I don’t know where they got the money. What do I look like, a journalist? But they say they can not afford to do it anymore. Hopefully someone comes along to save it, because while the current duo of critics they have hosting it are almost always IMO wrong, and always annoying, there is no other place on television that intelligently discusses movies, and if we lose ‘At The Movies’ it will be a sure tragedy.
